Hemp Farming now legal in Alaska, House votes unanimously

The Alaska House of Representatives voted to legalize hemp farming, making Alaska the 35th state in the nation to legalize cultivation of the non-intoxicating form of cannabis.

The Senate had accepted a previous version of this bill 20-0 the last year.
Claiming that it would not end financial gap and financial woes, however for lots of people, it would create new opportunities, Hughes said after the votes had been counted.

The bill was conducted by Rep. Harriet Drummond, D-Anchorage, in the house who stated there were multiple commercial and industrial possibilities of hemp and the opportunities would be huge.

Rep. Dan Saddler, R-Eagle River, stated that while he’s worried about the legalization of recreational marijuana that was something the bill was not about. SB 6 would permit hemp with a THC content of 0.3 per cent or less; in the concentration, Saddler stated, and that even if smoked a lot of it you’d not get any sort of sore throat or lungs.

Rep. Jason Grenn, I-Anchorage, pointed out that it was fairly appropriate for the bill being cleared on Presidents Day paying the early presidents such as George Washington and John Adams they were hemp cultivators.

Along with permitting the farming of hemp, SB 6 also exempts CBD oil derived from the plants from the nation s marijuana regulations. In the year of 2017, Marijuana Control office and Alaska Alcohol representatives had confiscated Oil from Marijuana retailers from all across the state in line with the then state law.
