Tax earnings from Marijuana in Alaska dropped for the second consecutive month in December though a state tax auditor claimed the slide might be short lived, collecting roughly $784,000 in marijuana taxation earnings for the month of December Compared to roughly $869,000 in November and $920,000 approximately in October that is the highest which was collected in one month since the assortment of marijuana earnings from state-licensed companies started in October 2016.

The tax is levied when marijuana is sold or moved from a marijuana farming facility into a retail cannabis shop or marijuana merchandise production center.

Early reports suggest that tax earnings for January will probably be approximately $1 million said Tax auditor Dustin Heintzelman.

He though declined to speculate why earnings plunged in November and December.
